We signed a five month construction contract with Mike Barnett (Barnett Construction - License #44400) in May 2013. Our home should have been complete in October 2013. We terminated him on February 20, 2014 for unprofessional behavior, not completing work, and unpaid invoices to suppliers and subcontractors. We had to have deputies remove him from our property. We filed a formal complaint with the Department of Commerce and Insurance, Board for Licensing Contractors. He signed a Consent Order admitting he was guilty of all charges. He did this in order to avoid a court hearing with the state of TN. He had to pay a fine and he is now on a list of problem contractors with the state of Tennessee. We are in the process of taking him to court to try and recoup some of the money we have lost! It was a nine month nightmare and we are still trying to finish our house (March 2015). DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!
