Since 2001, Stepping Stones-A Life Foundation, Incorporated has been assisting individuals with developmental disabilities to create meaningful lives for themselves by working with the principles of self-direction. This allows for the individual to have choice as to where they live, who supports them and how their state funded budget is designed. It is an excellent model in the sense that people with disabilities are fully integrated into the community of their choosing. The agency is now expanding to provide Support Coordination services to individuals with disabilities through a new state platform called The Supports Program. This program will allow an individual to select an agency to provide individualized Support Coordination (Case Management) services so that they can build upon and achieve many of their hopes and desires for the future. Payment for this service, is fully funded by the state of New Jersey.
