The Alaska Center for Venous and Lymphatic Medicine is located in Anchorage, AK on the campus of the Alaska Regional Hospital. It’s Director is Armen L. Roupenian,MD, FACS, RVT, RPhS, RPVI. The AKCVLM's emphasis is to provide the full spectrum of care for patients with chronic venous insufficiency and lymphedema. The AKCVLM provides assessment and treatment for all aspects of chronic venous insufficiency and lymphedema including, assessment and management of deep and superficial vein thrombosis, leg edema, varicose and spider veins.Dr. Roupenian has been a practicing surgeon for over 25 years. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, completing graduate work at the University of Graz, Austria and his surgical training at the Boston University Medical Center. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine.Dr. Roupenian is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is on the Board of Directors of the American College of Phlebology and an active member of the American Venous Forum, the Society of Vascular Ultrasound, and the German Society of Phlebology. He is a Item writer for the Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine and reviews article submissions for several venous journals.He is a credentialed vascular ultrasonographer, achieving both the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) and Registered Physician Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) Certificates by the American Registry of Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and is a Registered Phlebology Ultrasonographer (RPhS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)Dr. Roupenian has spoken on the topic of venous diseases as numerous meetings both in the United States and Internationally.
