Reviews for Heidis Legacy Dog Rescue
My wife and I tried to adopt from them once and found out that they don't own half the dogs on the site. We tried to adopt one and found out the dog had an owner who had decided to keep it- they never had the dog in the first place. The owner was shocked that they were advertising his dog, as they had not given Heidi's Legacy permission to do so. They have a list of dogs whose owners are rehoming them and when someone wants to adopt one, they find the owner and demand the dog. Or they will offer rescue backing to a foster and do nothing until someone applies to adopt the dog from them at which point they'll take the dog even if it's original owner already adopted it to someone. Then they charge you an adoption fee for a dog they had for 5 minutes. Our hearts are broken because they let us fall in love with a dog they couldn't give us. I feel so sorry for this poor family who had just adopted a dog from their friend only to have the rescue show up after weeks of silence and take the dog away on the grounds that "the owner said we could back him." The poor family had to pay like $300 to get their dog back. Disgraceful. Make no mistake; Heidi's Legacy is about the profit, not the pets.
