K K Kickers Cloggers

I was a young girl when I first saw the K K Kickers. I told my mom that I liked them and wanted to do it. My mom (Karen Miners) took me and my brother (Mike) to one of the classes that was being directed by Stan Melby and that was a day that I will never forget. Stan was so warm funny and inviting. All the dancers were friendly and will to help out. We didn't have a lot of money and my mom was doing her best to make things work and the other parents stepped in and helping my mom get our shoes and uniforms, they let my mom make payments on things so we could do what we loved. We (my brother and myself) continued going and before we knew it, we were dancing with the team. I was always excited to go to not only the shows but to practice. We traveled many places and Stan would always find a way to get all of us there. Thanks to him I got to go to competition out of state and meet great people along the way. Over time I got better and Stan came to me and asked if I wanted to be his duet partner for shows and competitions! I was so happy, the coach/teacher thought I was good enough to dance with him. I still remember some of the routines and have a picture of all of us in uniform on a train. I have wanted to get in touch with Stan or even maybe take a trip down. My sister was just in Lawton and she said she ran into Pat from there. Those were the good days that I will never forget, thanks to the wonderful people I danced with and that awesome man (Stan)that taught me that anything is possible.
