I called Ken Weber to cut 2 pieces of tile...for a inside corner v-cap. This is the first time we have tiled. Every thing else was going pretty good, but my husband had a hard time doing this, this is why I called Ken. After speaking with him and telling him that we were running out of v-cap he said that he would do it. I offered to bring it where ever to have this done. It didn't matter to me. He called at night and he spoke with my husband and quoted him $20.00 to cut the tile and then called me the following day and said he would send his son out the following day to do the job. I agreed and his son showed up with another worker...were here about 45 minutes. The first v-cap he cut was upside down so ruined the tile. Even though it was apparent how the tile was being laid as the rest of the v-cap had been laid. He cut the right side and it was ok and then proceeded to the left side...which he kept cutting and cutting. The gaps were getting huge. I was using Design FX for the grout and th4e gaps were getting bigger and bigger. He asked if I wanted him to continue and I said no that's ok. Didn't think there would be anything left.

I had already written out a check....the 20 that Ken had quoted, plus 20 for a tip. I asked his son how much. He said $100.00! I was shocked! I said your Dad said it was twenty dollars. He said well this was a service call. I wrote out the check and let him go about his way as I was pretty disgusted.

The following day I called his Dad, Ken Weber, and told him that I was unhappy with the whole thing and that I was old school and my word was who I am. He told me he shouldn't have quoted that price. And I told him, I would have been happy to pay that price even though we were misquoted had the job been done correctly!

He wanted to come out on Monday...of course I had also asked if he would bid a total bath remodel. Unfortunately all contractors in our area are very busy due to a hail storm. No I did not want him to come out, and yes he did cash the check, even though I was 2 v-caps gone! So I paid $100.00 to have one v-cap cut!

The good news is that I made a template out of cardboard and my husband was able to make a cut with a grinder and it is perfect! Ok that took 10 minutes on his part and 20 minutes on mine....less than the 45 that this so called professional did. No wonder people don't trust! Pictures are on Ken Weber Construction facebook
