Business description

47arts houses working artist's studios, a shared marble carving studio, two exhibition spaces and a multi-media and photography studio.

The aim of the studios at 47arts is to provide both working space for fine artists and a vibrant and engaged artists community. Artists are accepted as tenants with this in mind. The historic central Germantown building that houses 47arts was the largest American Legion Post ever constructed in it's day and now provides 12,000 square feet for artist's studios as well as the living space and studios of E T (Elfie) Harris, marble sculptor and photographer. Elfie Harris has been involved with the Philadelphia artist community since attending Tyler School of Art to study ceramics with Rudi Staffel while she was in high school. She is one of the founders of the Philadelphia Open Studio Tours and with her husband, Gianni Benvenuti, was a principal designer and sculptor for the Franklin Mint
