Ahimsa Porter Sumchai, M.D., NSCA-CPT

I am a sole proprietor and solo practitioner in a medical and consulting office located in the affluent West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco.

I graduated from the UCSF School of Medicine in 1981 and trained in General and Neurological Surgery. Completed a two year Postdoctoral research and clinical fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center in Emergency Medicine and Aeromedical Transport in 1988. I published in peer review journals on the topics of cervical spine traction and immobilization. I served as an emergency physician for Stanford stadium and as a junior attending physician in the ER. I practiced at the regional trauma and spine care center at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. I served as a research consultant for the Palo Alto VAH RR&D and as an attending physician in emergency services and for the toxic registry. I served 10 seasons as an emergency physician for San Francisco Giants MLB stadium operations.
