A trained thermography technician uses a digital infrared camera to scan the surface of the skin (5mm deep) looking for heat activity or lack of circulation. Just like your unique fingerprint pattern, you have a unique physiological pattern. That pattern should be symmetrical (same) from one side of your body with the other side. If the images show significant heat or lack of circulation in a specific area on one side of your body but not the other side, it may be an indication of an injury or disease. This information is then correlated with other examination with other examination findings or tests to help the doctor arrive at a working diagnosis.
