American Drive in Cleaners was started in 1965. It was the first and only dry cleaner for many towns around. Originally, Sol Bleck was the proprietor. Peter Kuchlik, Sol's son in law and the current owner purchased American Dry Cleaners in 1998. Previously, Peter Kuchlik was a systems analyst working for Helmsley Spear when he met his future wife Lisa, working part-time on Saturdays for Lisa's father Sol, at American Cleaners. Peter took an instant liking to the retail business and after a year, left the corporate jungle to begin work at American Cleaners full time. He eventually learned all the aspects of the business, including enrollment in National Cleaners Association, school of Education programs to learn spotting and pressing.
