BasicIP helps business to generate and capture more strategic invention disclosures from their employees.

At BasicIP we help companies make invention safe for engineers. BasicIP is two people (myself who generated 600 invention disclosures in 4 years with 41 issued patents, and Bill Meade who was HP LaserJet's IP manager) who worked together at HP after "invent" was added under the HP logo. With HP's legal department and our enthusiasm, the invention workshop process we ran initially in Boise, was extended across HP in the US, and then to HP around the world. This workshop engine moved HP from number 18 in US patenting in 1999, to number 3 in US patenting in 2006. Since leaving HP, we have refined our process to be more effective by customizing it to client requirements. At HP we were happy to capture 2.5 disclosures per attendee in an invention workshop.
