Horrible Company!

We had a horrible experience with Big Trout Lodge Apartments / Greystar. This will be a lengthy post as we were wronged several times so if you don't have the time to read it just go check out their report with the BBB (it's a very big, not surprising F) : http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/business-reviews/property-management/greystar-in-seattle-wa-37003464

When moving in I had to spend the entire weekend deep cleaning as it was filthy. The shower had mold and rust, the kitchen had black soot in the cabinets and on surfaces, carpet turned the bottoms of our feet black, the windowsills were moldy/dirty along with the blinds - basically everything was disgusting. It also took us several MONTHS to get someone to come fix our leaking dishwasher.

They ILLEGALLY towed our car from a LEGAL parking space. My husband and I asked Peggy in the front office who we could speak to about it and she told us there was no one above her and nothing we could do after initiating a public argument in the presence of other employees and tenants; she stated that they never pay for it and we would have to pay for the towing ourselves if we wanted it out. After researching ourselves we found a number to their property management company, Greystar. Finally after contacting them, several conversations after the initial complaint, we threatened to take the case to small claims court. Shortly after that they paid for our vehicle to be released from the towing company.

This is what we are currently dealing with two and a half months after moving out : We had three different employees, including maintenance and Peggy herself, clear our apartment and carpet before moving out - telling us it was in great condition. We were even told we were getting our money back for the security deposit and because we were leaving earlier than expected and giving them permission to enter and get the apartment ready for the next tenants, they stated we would also receive prorated rent credit. Then a week later (after we were already living in another state across the US) they contacted us saying we owed about $1500 - after deducting our credit they previously promised we were left owing about $1000 - for carpet damage. The carpet damage claim is absolutely ridiculous and unjust, since they had already told us it was in great condition and we were good to go; also, to replace the carpet with the extremely low grade carpet they use would be substantially less than the $1,500 they said it cost. We have written several emails and letters to the company and have heard nothing back so we assumed they had dropped it. We are now looking to rent a home for two years before buying and are being turned down because when a rental history is run on us THIS debt shows up - which is our only negative on our rent history after renting for the past decade. It's a shame that a company like this can do business preying on their customers. If you go online and read the executive bios / resumes from Greystar you can see all they are worried about is "revenue generation" which ends up being at the expense of their tenets and obviously pushing all the pressure onto Peggy to meet their revenue goals.

If you are considering renting from Big Trout / Greystar you should read their reviews because there are more like ours and know that their grade F business practices may hurt you and your family in the future.

No regard for renters whatsoever!

Lived here and always paid my rent on time. I switched Jobs and payday is on the 5th (because it's a commission job and it's impossible to complete payroll in four days with a weekend in the middle. They're rent is due on the 4th so they served me with an eviction notice and notice to vacate. Then they tacked on another $75 late fee and $25 processing fee to make things so much better! To top it off we had our dryer not working for almost two weeks and finally got someone to come look at it. A week after we figured out he didn't really fix it, we finally got a replacement. Then the dishwasher timer went out which took a solid week to fix as well. When asked for a screen door that worked properly (while the dryer was getting supposedly fixed) He brought a replacement and left in on the porch for over a week until I called several times to get it installed. So all I can say about this place is if you want customer service and rental pleasure.......seek elsewhere and avoid at all costs! The management is rude and disrespectful!!
