Business description
Bolton Friends Church is located at Bolton, Independence, KS. The church has always proclaimed, "To Know Christ and the power of His resurrection."
In the year 1881, a number of Quaker families moved from Indiana and settled near Harrisonville, KS which was a trading post. The members of the Friends Church met in the Isaac Lindley home and decided to build a church, which was completed in 1884 on land that Isaac Lindley had donated. The Monthly Meeting was organized January 22, 1885. The Santa Fe Railroad built their line through Bolton, KS, which had become a RR station. In the year 1898 the members of the Friends Church decided to move the church building from Harrisonville to Bolton where it is today. New rooms were added on and the old part remodeled. The former Hockett home was purchased and made into a recreation and fellowship hall. In 1975 a new building was started and the congregation moved in, in 1976 to the present
