& S Paint was started in 1957 by M. C. ( Joe ) Choate. Later bought by his son Ron Choate, C & S Paint has operated in Jacksonville, North Carolina and other coastal communities since that time. In 2012 Ron Choate sold the stores to Spectrum Paint based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ron has recently purchased the Jacksonville store back from Spectrum.

Along with longtime store manager Victor Case, the company is returning to the culture and values that made C & S Paint the premier paint store in Jacksonville.
