Originally handcrafted roofing slates from New Orleans
Now you can own a piece of New Orleans history,hand drawn images by a local artist on old roofing slate dated back to the late 1700's and early 1800's. Roofing Slates mined in Pennsylvania and tranported down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers on rafts and became the roofing material after the disastrous fire of 1795. Calas Sketches has been producing this art on old slates since 1975 and became a unique souvenir from New orleans.
