Raymond F. Catuogno, Sr. learned the skill of stenography while serving in the US Navy. When he retired from the service in 1966, he took his skills to the marketplace in Springfield, MA, quickly becoming one of the most popular reporters in the state. Known for his reliability and tireless work habits, Ray developed a following of fellow reporters who were able to learn more about the skill under his tutelage. By 1976, Ray had a large group of reporters working under his direction and he incorporated the agency. The business rapidly expanded to include transcription of tapes from recorded proceedings.In 1990, Ray and his son George worked together to develop a patented technology that would allow users to dictate directly over the telephone to the agency rather than recording onto tapes. The new technology radically reduced the cost and trouble of dictating to heavy, expensive machines and mailing tapes, and allowed the company to reach out to anyone with a phone line as a business client. Sten-Tel was incorporated in 1990, and became largely responsible for the adoption of dictation technology for new business operations around the country.By the mid 1990s it beccame increasingly feasible to do business over the internet, and StenTel was an early adopter. The company deployed its web portal for customer use, and franchised the ASP model to many companies spread throughout the US, most of which survive to this day carrying Sten-Tel as a part of their brand.In 2007, StenTel and Catuogno Court Reporting were merged to create internal efficiencies and the current name was established. The court reporting division of the company and the StenTel division share the 18,000,000 sq. ft. 6th floor at Monarch Place, the tallest building in Springfield. Today, the company specializes in transcription and translation for the healthcare, insurance, legal and public safety sectors. Several of our newer services are complementary to transcription but entirely unrelated. These include videography, encrypted email services, property contents valuation and revenue cycle management, to name those that have been most important to our recent growth. The organization continues to thrive despite the improvement in speech recognition software and solutions, and despite offshoring of transcription work in many scenarios. The company is projecting revenue growth of at least 20% for the 2014 calendar year, with both divisions contributing considerable new growth.
