First we recommend that you take a Simulator lesson and a Demo flight. Second you get a FAA Medical. Third you Get books and materials. What's a Demo flight? A Demo flight will give you a chance to pilot a helicopter for the first time. This will help you decide if you really want to pursue a pilot's license plus it will give you a knowledge base for the ground studying. Cutting Edge Helicopters offers a 30 minute Demo flight and simulator lesson as a special package, or you may want to just book an hour of flight training for a more thorough introduction.
