Doug Thomas grew up the Son of a Commercial Artist, Painter and Sign Writer. As a young child he was constantly surrounded by his father's work. At about six years old, he started helping his Dad in the sign shop and had a natural talent as an artist. Most of his early work was sketches and cartoons that got him in trouble at school (even though they made his friends laugh). Throughout his teens, he worked in his father's sign shop doing graphics and silk screening. At fifteen years old he was painting murals on commercial buildings in the Yakima Valley. Some of those murals are still in existence some 25 years later.
