Thomas Weisel Partners, also known as TWP, is a U.S. investment banking firm based in San Francisco, California that specializes in growth sectors of the economy. Investment banker Thomas Weisel founded the firm in 1999 after his departure from Montgomery Securities. Thomas Weisel Partners was heavily invested in technology during the dot-com boom and revenue peaked early on in the firm’s lifetime. Following the conclusion of the tech bubble, TWP diversified into other growth areas such as healthcare and consumer products and continued to operate successfully until it was acquired by Stifel Financial in 2010. The firm now offers a broad range of services, including asset management and M&A advisory, in a large number of sectors including technology, media, healthcare, consumer products, energy, mining and real estate.
