Urban opened its doors in Nov 2007 after almost a year of planning. The initial idea was to open a workshop/gallery, where the public could see the work of Tomek Wrzesien , the proprietor of Urban Standard, as well the work of a rotating cast of local artists. The idea merged into a coffee and lunch spot complete with antiques and serious city vibe. The instant success of the cafe left some of the original idea behind , however plans are currently underway to make the venue even more event and arts exhibition focused.
