The Lively Foundation is recognized by the State of California and the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt, not for profit corporation.
The Lively Foundation's mission is to create and present artistic and educational projects in dance, music and related arts. Lively publishes The Hedgehog, the international arts review. Subscribers include the New York Public Library, the Getty Library & Museum, other distinguished libraries and individuals. Lively presents annual performances in the San Francisco Bay Area. The City of SF declared a proclamation in 2009 to acknowledge the artistic achievements and public service of Lively and Leslie Friedman. In addition, Lively presents educational programs to an average of 1500 school children per year. Artistic Director Leslie Friedman has been applauded by audiences and critics on four continents: "Simply a joy to watch!" cheered The Times, London.
