Sherer Custom Saddles, Inc. is a private art studio one hour southeast of Denver, Colorado. Dick Sherer's leather and silver work combine traditional fine craftsmanship with creative design resulting in quality products for his clients. Harness makers and saddlers are part of Dick's family's history dating back to the New England Colonies. He began his apprenticeship when he was 15. From 1959 to 1965, he studied under four Porter saddlemakers in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona. After completing his doctorate in 1969, he pursued a dual career as a research\exploration geologist and as a part-time custom saddlemaker. Sherer Custom Saddles, Inc. was established in 1973 and Dick decided to pursue his artwork full time in 1990. His saddles received twelve first place awards at the CSMA Cus
