When you buy and sign up for a new wireless carrier plan you will usually get a mobile phone at reduced rate or free with their contract. The cell phones that is available with its carrier contracts are what is known as a "LOCKED" mobile phone. All wireless carriers such as Verizon Cell Phones, T-Mobile, AT&T, US Cellular, Ntelos, Cricket, Alltel, Sprint and others lock their cell phones so that you can't use it on another network.
