Historic Walking Tours of the French Quarter and Treme, While she may have grown up in the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee, Katie Landry’s roots run deep here in southwest Louisiana. She received her strong Cajun ties to Louisiana from her dad who grew up in Lafayette on the back of the bayou. And on her mother’s side, she traces her genealogy back to the German and Irish immigrants that flooded the port of New Orleans in the mid 1800’s. So in the summer of 2013, when Katie decided to make the move from a sleepy town in Tennessee to the Big Easy, she was, in reality, coming home.
