Friends of the Sun began in 1975 as a small renewable energy company in Brattleboro, Vermont. We mostly sold books and how-to guides on the new topic of solar energy, hence our name! As we grew and started selecting products to sell, energy efficiency was the overriding theme. Wood burning stoves and insulating window shades were added to the mix. Not long after, we discovered this wonderful new shade product, called 'Duette', by Hunter Douglas. Over the years, our selection of 'hearth' products grew to include gas- and pellet-burning stoves and fireplaces. At the same time, we began to add the new and innovative window treatments that Hunter Douglas was developing.
