In America, honest debtors acting in good faith are allowed a "fresh start", and a second chance to pursue life, liberty, and happiness once their old debts have been legally forgiven. Bankruptcy is not the disease, but rather is the cure. Bankruptcy is not the problem causing the debt, but rather is the solution to the endless debt cycle. The Bankruptcy Act of 1898 established that debtors had a basic right to financial relief without the creditor's consent. Hard working Americans have always been (and remain) entitled to a "fresh start". We all have creditors charging us exorbitant fees and interest. We all have a duty to love and respect one another.
