John R. Minarcik, M.D.

The Retina Group of Washington (RGW) is one of the largest and most highly respected retinal and macular practices in the country.

Dr. Minarcik began his academic work at the University of California in San Diego where he received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors. He then became commissioned as a Naval Officer, and went on to earn his degree in Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. and to be inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. His post-doctoral work included an internship in Transitional Medicine and a residency in Ophthalmology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. Dr. Minarcik had a variety of experiences as a military physician, including training as a Dive Medical Officer, working as a physician for the US Navy SEALs and acting as the department head of Ophthalmology for two years at the Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan.
