For 10 years, Kevin has prepared our tax returns for several LLC’s as well as for our family. I am sorry to say we cannot recommend Kevin DeGroote. Kevin was engaged to represent us on our behalf of an IRS situation regarding an Amended Return that he processed for us in 2011. Beginning in 2012, we would go months before he would reply to our inquiries on what was happening with our dispute regarding a significant refund owed to us. Roll forward to October 2014, after many unanswered emails/phone calls and still no IRS resolution and Kevin advises us that we need to file another Amended Return for the same period -otherwise we will lose any chance of getting our refund? In October 2015, Kevin advises us that we need to hire a tax attorney to get the matter resolved, because “he has done all he can do”. Within two weeks we had hired an attorney which Kevin acknowledged on November 4th “Got it. I will help him however I can.” What happens after this is incredulous to us and our attorney. It literally took Kevin two months to return a phone call to our attorney for him to say “he was out of the office & was very busy and would get him the information when he was in the office the next week. When he returned to the office, the only information he provided to the attorney was our tax returns! Two months later, Kevin has failed to respond to all emails/phone calls, as well as requests for copies of the letters he has written to the IRS/ visits to the IRS or any other supporting information which he said he did on our behalf. Kevin does not give clients their tax returns unless he has received payment, which was not an issue for us. As 10 year clients, we put our faith in Kevin to handle the IRS matter as he advertises. We offered to pay Kevin more money to respond to our attorney, but still no response. Professionals don’t treat their clients like this and expect to get referrals. Our attorney says something isn’t right here, and we are coming to the conclusion that Kevin has likely cost us our refund.
