Established as a small family business in 1952, Leonard's Bakery Limited is now known throughout the United States and abroad. The sweet-spot destination integrates recipes from founder Leonard's Portuguese heritage with typical bakery fare such as cookies and doughnuts. Soon after opening in Honolulu, Leonard's Bakery developed a loyal following of customers who returned again and again for malasadas, fried balls of dough rolled in sugar and served hot. The space soon became too small for the demand, and the bakery moved to a larger facility. Today, Leonard's maintains one location in Hawaii, several Malasadamobiles that visit commercial centers, and two stores in Japan.
