Math Tutoring - All Levels - Home School Help - KSU / Kent Stark / Stark Tech Math HelpAre you or your child struggling in math?Do you want your child to excel in math class this year? Are you a home-schooler struggling to teach your child math? Are you a Kent State (or branch) student struggling with your math requirement? Are you a nursing school student having trouble with math for meds?Do you need help preparing for standardized testing?Math teacher and KSU graduate student in education with experience in Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calc, State Competency Exam prep and SAT/ACT prep will tutor your child in your home (or convenient location of your choosing - I often use the Stark Library branch in Glen Oak High School). For college students, I am experienced with ALEKS and Pearson MyLabsPlus on-line courses, and can guide you through Math 00020, 00021, 00022, 00023, 00024, 11008 and 11010. I can also help with GRE/GMAT prep. I am on the main campus at least once a week, and I live near the Stark branch campus. The teaching of math has changed considerably since most parents have been in school. I am up to date on current methods, practices and theory in the teaching of math, and I can help you help your child.I believe that given a teacher who will work to unlock their potential, every student has the ability to succeed in math. I have had tremendous success with students who previously struggled, including students with SLD in Math Reasoning and/or Math Calculation, students with mild to moderate DD, students on the autism spectrum, students with ADHD, and students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. I have passed the Mathematics Praxis II (national exam for teachers), achieved a perfect score on the elementary content knowledge Praxis exam, and scored in the top 1% nationwide on both the SAT and GRE math exams. I recently completed a year of service as an Americorps teaching fellow, and completed training in increasing student achievement through The New Teacher Project.I have FBI and BCI background checks and a fingerprint clearance card available.Rates are $35 for a 75 minute private tutoring session. Once a week is recommended. Here's what one parent had to say: "Hi Jim, I just wanted to share! Nick's grade in Algebra 2 for the first semester at the beginning of the school year before he began tutoring was a 26% F. We just got his report card and he ended this grading period with a 99%
