One of my associates once told me that you cannot help anyone in life unless you are helping them from a position of strength. He used the analogy of a river current with two friends . One friend was caught in the current while one friend was in the muddy bank . As the friend came by in the current the friend did nothing to help him . A little further down the river a man standing on a rocky bank and reached out to grab the strangers arm and pull him into safety. The friend that was saved stormed down the riverside to his friend and proclaimed " why didn't you grab for me while a complete stranger did "!
