Nu Construction

We had a large addition (1300 sq ft added upstairs) and had the whole house remodeled (it was originally built in 1984) with Nick. We chose Nick as he was recommended by two friends. Working with Nick and his team has been awesome.

First, lets talk schedule: He said he would take 6 months and would start in July. He started in July and it took about 6.5 months and that was because the wood guy caught the flu and was out for a couple of weeks. Nick is true to his word and keeps you informed of everything.

Next, lets talk money: Nick gave us an estimate and the final cost was exactly what he had said it would be. I kept a spreadsheet of all the spends each month. He provided a complete bill each month with line numbers that were the same as he the line numbers provided in his bid, so that I could easily figure out if we were over or under of what he had bid.

Next, lets talk about his crew: Very professional, very skilled and knowledgeable. Nick brings in other subs and all of them were very good to work with and absolutely knew what they were talking about.

Finally, I would like to mention three other things:

1. When we moved back in, everything was done. There were no small things missing or forgotten. I had not realized that this was a big thing until I spoke with other friends who had had major work done on their houses and they said that even after they moved back in, there were things that their contractors had forgotten to do and so work kept on going. Nothing like that at all with Nick.

2. We found a leak in the bathroom and we called Nick. He came the next day with EVERYBODY. He brought the plumber along with his crew who proceeded to look under the flooring and the walls. Then they all came back afterwards and fixed everything up. When I mentioned to my friends, they were surprised as that was NOT their experience with their contractors who, once the work was done, did not find time to help.

3. I found Nick's advice throughout the process very valuable. Our staircase is gorgeous and Nick and the carpenter/wood guy spent hours with us figuring out the exact type and grain of wood to use and how it would wrap around and how the beautiful slanted doors under the staircase would look like. Nick made sure we were satisfied.
