Food and Nutrition Education Programs for children, grade levels K-12. Once Upon A Carrot is a Miami Beach, Florida community-based organization working to solve the obesity crisis by teaching young people about nutrition and making balanced and healthy food choices via an experiential food and nutrition education curriculum including gardening, cooking lessons and large group demonstrations. Lessons incorporate fruit and vegetable tastings that meet academic standards in science, technology, engineering, mathematics as well as: language arts, social studies, health education and art. We integrate farm to school programs aimed at growing healthy bodies, minds, and local farm economies.
