Platter Puss Records was opened in 1984 as Dr. Records. The name change to was instituted by Jim Jones (Pere Ubu's lead Guitarist). He and Al "The Snake" Globecar were the original partners. I, John P McNea III, purchased the store in 1988. Originally located at 679 E.185th Street in Cleveland, Ohio the store was moved to the far West Side of Cleveland in 1993. In Lakewood, Ohio Platter Puss Records flourished until 2002. In 2002 Platter Puss Records closed it's doors to the public and moved to the internet.
