Following graduation, Scott tried dozens of criminal cases, first as an assistant state prosecutor and then as an assistant public defender. He earned an LL.M. degree in Transnational Business and Taxation in and an LL.M. in Taxation from McGeorge School of Law. Scott is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the California Bar Association and the Tax Law Section of the California Bar.
