This garage towed our car after it broke down in Utah. We live in Iowa (we had lent it to someone). I contacted the garage owner, Mike, who told me the engine is shot and we concluded it couldn't be fixed. We talked several times about what to do with it -- salvage, sell, etc. I proceeded to sell the car (for $200), as soon as possible, and arrange to have it picked up. At this point I found out that the insurance co had not yet paid the towing fee, so I phoned to pay it immediately and get reimbursed by the insurance co (so the garage wouldn't have to wait for their payment). They informed me for the first time at this point that I owe them $40 per day for storage, which will amount to almost $300 on top of the $180 for towing. I had NO idea they were charging me storage, and they had plenty of opportunity to tell me this from the get go. NOT to be trusted.
