Craig Tart seems to be very knowledgeable about many aspects of construction. He is especially gifted on how to get people to give him advances of payment, and not perform the work, as is the case here. I had 3 separate dealings with him, as the first one went rather well, pouring a concrete driveway. We then agreed to remodel our back yard, with 2 water features and an overlay system over existing concrete. Craig Tart changed his mind so many times and could not explain what he was doing. He had his crew building waterfalls out of wood, only to let it sit and totally do something else. The concrete overlay system began popping up within days of him putting it down. He would leave the job when he even showed up.... telling us he was going to get supplies, leaving his crew of guys and never coming back. A job that was to be completed in 4 weeks has since taken 5 months, and now he has abandoned the job, after being paid in full (my fault for trusting him), as he explained he underbid the job and was hurting because of it. My husband and I reluctantly paid him because of his constant financial hardships. We had also given him a deposit for building a barn on our property, this was at the time of the 2nd dealing, and things were going rather well at the beginning. He has since pocketed that money, and has told us due to the fact that he underbid the 2nd job, he did not feel he should have to pay it back to us. He has since agreed to pay it back, and has texted me agreeing to this. He has made several payments, and has promised to repay it by making a payment on Fridays, and I have not received a payment in several weeks, although many promises to do so. I am writing this in the hopes to warn others to please do your homework, and investigate this man prior to dealing with him. I should have done that, but I didn't and now I am having to go through so much more to get things fixed and recover the money for work never completed.
