Owner, Creator Turtle Mountain Designs February 2013 - Present Deborah Anderson draws each design that is carved on a bisque stoneware Quyle Clay vessle. She paints the design with colored clay and designsand implements Sgraffito on the vessle to create a synthesis between surface and form. The stoneware vessels are hand thrown, coated with colored slip, and then carved over the entire surface. Her designs of Nevada wildlife, horses, jack russel terriers, flowers, and plants are very delicate and ever evolving. Her work is influenced by drawings of still life, photos, motifs from textiles, wood cuts, arts and crafts period pieces, and the vast details in nature. In addition to her sgraffito work she does functional pottery with homemade glaze designs.
