Business description
The goal of U G.A.I.N. is to provide consistent, disciplined, loving leadership that will lead to the revitalization of urban Memphis.
The goal of U G.A.I.N. is to provide consistent, disciplined, loving leadership that will lead to the revitalization of urban Memphis by teaching the youth in the community to read before they enter the public school system, by improving the health of the youth and their parents in the community, with a nutritious diet and at the same time teaching them the social skills necessary for success, by educating the whole family in the community and showing them how to eliminatethe existing drug sub-culture that is destroying their community. These are bold endeavors. These goals clearly imply that inner-city residents don’t perceive education as valuable, they don’t have goal-oriented attitudes, and they are not contributing members of society. This implies a kind of social inertia. If we can achieve these goals, then we can raise up indigenous leaders who will then be in a position to transform their community. Mission StatementU GAIN is committed to assist the children and families of the Memphis community mentally, physically, spiritually, socially and economically. By initiating a variety of programs...This mission clearly implies motivation: We are going to transform the people in urban Memphiswho will in turn transform urban Memphis. In other words, we are going to give them our visionfor their community – assuming they don’t like what their community has become. If we are to be successful in doing this we, then must now show them a better way. Vision StatementU GAIN seeks to revitalize urban Memphis, beginning with equipping today's children to be tomorrow's leaders, as well as their parents and the whole Memphis community, through spiritualand community development. This vision clearly implies change: We are going to transform urban Memphis from one state of existence to another state of existence. There is something we don’t like about the current state of affairs in the inner-city. In order for us to be effective, we must know what we are dealing with. After all, our government has financed billions of dollars in aiding urban residents become mainstream participants in society.
