Business description

Design is the poetry of the soul that should engage, nurture, and delight those it serves. At VBA we are designing an better experience for all!

Architecture has always been my passion. Many have said that if you don’t love architecture, don’t chose it as a profession because it is a very demanding field. This became very apparent through my many years of experience with several architectural firms and working on various project types. I found that even though many chose this profession because they love architecture, the practice of architecture elicited stress, confrontational relationships with contractors and engineers, and many times resulted in strained Client relationships, family strife, and divorce. I witnessed provocation, caustic relationships, yelling, use of choice language, prejudice, and such confrontation that I began to wonder why I had chosen to join a profession that was not in line with my beliefs, values, and ultimate goals for not only myself, but those that trust in me to design the very buildings that they inhabit. The main focus seemed to be individually centered rather than project centered, and more energy was expended on each entity’s own agenda, than the Client’s vision and goals. I came to the realization that I either had to quit something that I loved, or find a way to change the situations and processes.
