While the Lowell, Indiana store wasn't founded until 1987, The Szany Family has been in the fireworks business since the mid-1970's. Wayne and Donna Szany had started selling fireworks out of their Gas Station on the corner of Gosling Ave & Calumet Ave. in Hammond, Indiana. By 1978 they noticed how well fireworks were doing and had decided to expand their business into fireworks. Wayne and Donna enlisted the help of their children and their friends and opened firework stands all over the city of Hammond. Sometime in the early to mid 1980's Wayne and Donna needed their own warehouse for distribution. In 1987 the business grew to the point where they opened a storefront in Lowell, Indiana. Sometime in the early 1990's the regulations regarding fireworks had forced the corner stands into nonexistence. The Szany Family began operating solely out of the Lowell storefront. In 2001 an addition was made to the store that allowed us to expand our showroom by double.
