Wessler Design Associates

My family hired Ian Wessler Designs to update the landscaping of our newly bought home. In the middle of a project, after paying him approximately $20,000, he basically disappeared. After a month of not hearing from him, my husband and I texted him to ask what was going on. He replied that he was very busy and we needed to be patient, that he would resume in the spring(this was in November). We asked him if he could meet with us to discuss the finalization of our project and to please bring receipts for the “materials” he had provided, so far. He replied by text, stating that no, he would not provide us any receipts, nor would he be finishing our project, he suggested we find someone else to finish. We have not heard from him since. He left us with an unfinished fence/gate, chunks of new lawn torn up, not replanted, some areas covered with exposed plastic, already existing plants upended and replanted in a temporary haphazard fashion, a large pile of expensive soil in the middle of our yard, construction debris and materials strewn about, and, most painfully, our brand new irrigation system, that had been installed by a different company, completely dismantled, in order to accommodate projects he never finalized. The reason we asked to see receipts for materials, which we were never even given a chance to discuss with him, is because we noticed a large discrepancy in the quality of materials he used, compared to what he said he used and charged us for. We eventually went to the lumber yard ourselves and spoke to them(small town), where we verified he had bought the cheap one-offs but charged us for a different, top quality lumber. So disappointing, we had a completely unpleasant and unprofessional experience with this company.
