Complete Scammer

I so wish I could recommend Zachary / Zach Duff's services but...he completely scammed me. I hired him for several projects at once: putting in a sprinkler system, some landscaping, and installing stone stairs up the middle of our yard. I paid him the deposits--continued to pay for draws for materials when asked and he just took the money and ran. 6 months later and I have a completely torn up yard with about 3/4 of a sprinkler system installed and part that is leaking and driving out water bill sky high. about 3/4 of the landscaping done where half of it died within the first week of his planting it, and ZERO of the stone steps which was the most expensive part of the projects. He has also left bulky trash everywhere in out yard that is now on us to get cleaned up. At first, he continued to come out but every time got the bare minimum done to make sure he could get me to give him more of the draw "for materials..." He would randomly not show when he said he was coming. He's fed me every excuse you can imagine: "My car broke down." "My team got covid." "They sent the wrong stone steps." "My other project was damaged in the storm and I need to fix it." "I took on too many projects at once, I am so sorry, but they are done and now you are my priority." "I was arrested for an outstanding ticket that I wasn't aware of." "I hurt my back while in prison overnight sleeping on the floor but will be back to work in two weeks" "I need back surgery." "I just had back surgery and and sedated and can't talk." Individually you want to be understanding of each of these and I WAS but it was one right after the other right after the other. There were so many more and many days where he just didn’t show at all with NO explanation. Like one day hen he said "I am on my way to pick up much and edging for the beds. will you please send me $400 of draw" but then nobody EVER EVER EVER showed up with mulch or to do edging. EVER. He knew that the money that I was using to try and fix up the outside of our house was all that I received from my father when he suddenly passed away this year and he completely took advantage of my vulnerable state. In all he took over 13k from me and I am being GENEROUS when I say he completed probably 4k worth of work. He told me this month that he will not be able to complete the projects and "will be in touch" about returning partial payment. What is there to "be in touch" about? Just send me my money back that I already paid you...unless...you don't have it anymore...

I am so embarrassed and I am completely heartbroken. I am now beginning the process of taking him to court. DO NOT EVER HIRE OR TRUST THIS MAN. HE IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY. I spent over 13k to have my new sod completely torn up, a little mulch put down, and maybe 20 plants planted. SCAMMER.
